READ-A-THON 2025 "I'MMA GO READ ALL OF THIS"
Read-A-Thon is an annual, month-long event at Yongsan International School of Seoul (YISS) that promotes reading schoolwide. Each year a song is chosen that teachers and administration perform to live with a lyric video at the opening assembly, as well as a music video released for the closing assembly. I led the creative direction for the 2025 Read-A-Thon video projects where I oversaw everything from filming to final assembly.
The lyric video was created with a mixed-medium approach where physical and digital elements were combined to create digital images. These images came together to create a lyric video that also served as a concert visual which was inspired by the idea of discovering words within books.
The final music video included a live performance, b-roll of students reading, clips of the elementary dance team, short skits from teachers, and captions. The live performance had a full light sequence programmed to sync with the song and backing video as the teachers and admin performed. Capturing this performance involved multiple camera angles and takes, which added variety and kept the energy high. I also directed and coordinated all the b-roll of students, teachers, and the dance team. Lastly, I repurposed the lyric images as captions in a fun way to reinforce the discovery of words from the lyric video. The final project resulted in four video cuts: a full Read-A-Thon video, performance video, sing-along version, and lyric video, giving the school more ways to sustain engagement and excitement long after the event.
